About TSI
A Note from the Chair
The Sulphur Institute (TSI) is an international, non-profit organization established in 1960. The Institute is the global advocate for sulphur, representing all stakeholders engaged in producing, buying, selling, handling, transporting, or adding value to sulphur. We seek to provide a common voice for producers, consumers, and service providers to promote ongoing and uninterrupted efficient and safe handling and transport of all sulphur products while protecting the best interests of the environment.
The sulphur industry is faced with new challenges. Large production growth is expected in regions that are more and more distant from consuming areas. Safety and environmental awareness are important because this raw material, which gets transported around the globe, is used for so many important products we use in day-to-day life. Recently, TSI initiated a program focusing on environment, health and safety, complementing the valuable transportation, regulation and logistics program. These programs continue to demonstrate immediate and significant value to TSI members. Sulphur applications are expanding! Once known only as a raw material to produce fertilizers, sulphur is now known for its value to the economy of a host of nations as well as the economic betterment of farmers and the improvement of food production and nutrition to the growing global population. There are other value-added uses for sulphur and TSI is at the forefront in examining these opportunities. With the varying applications, the sulphur industry is becoming even more diverse and dynamic. Our focus is:
We welcome all with a vested interest in sulphur or its related industries to become members of TSI. There are a variety of issues and opportunities that are best addressed by the industry as a whole and TSI is the right organization to address these industry-wide matters.
