Donald L. Messick, Vice President, Agricultural Programs

Donald L. Messick is an agronomist and soil scientist with more than 25 years of experience in various aspects of sulphur research and marketing. For the last 20 years, his focus has been in Asia. He joined The Sulphur Institute (TSI) in October 1989 and subsequently was named Director of Agricultural Programs. In 1995, he was named Director of Market Studies and Agricultural Programs, with the expansion of his responsibilities to include analysis of sulphur market activities for TSI. In 2009, he was named Staff Vice President, Agricultural Programs. Before joining TSI, Messick held marketing and technical positions with the Ammonium Sulfate Marketing Group of AlliedSignal, Inc., now Honeywell International, Inc.

In 1980, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences, focusing on environmental issues and a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Sciences from the University of Delaware. In 1982, he earned a Master of Science degree in Agronomy, specializing in soil fertility, at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Mr. Messick is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Fertilizer Industry Round Table where he just completed a two-year term as chairman. He is also a member of the American Society of Agronomy and Soil Science Society of America. He also is active in several other international associations; has authored publications in agronomy, soil science, and physical chemistry; and is a Certified Professional Agronomist and Certified Professional Soil Scientist.
