Tour of Ras Laffan Information

With 153.2 billion barrels of oil reserves and 910.5 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves — second only to Russia — Qatar plays an increasingly important role in the global oil and gas industries. Within Qatar, this is highlighted by the development of the massive Ras Laffan industrial complex, a facility that is critical to handling the country's growing sulphur supply. Ras Laffan Industrial City, situated along the northeast coast of Qatar, is one of the fastest growing industrial cities in the world. The city covers an area of 106 square kilometers and is expected to expand to nearly 250 square kilometers in the near future. Ras Laffan Industrial City's overall purpose is to mature into a thriving industrial complex utilizing gas and liquids derived from staging of the North Field Gas Development Program. A directorate of Qatar Petroleum, Ras Laffan is a multi purpose, multidimensional industrial city, which operates an industrial port and provides integrated services as well as several industrial facilities to existing industries and prospective investors. Services include modern infrastructure, security, fire, safety, a medical center, environmental regulations and support services area.

With the assistance of The Sulphur Institute members in the region, TSI has made arrangements for symposium delegates to visit Ras Laffan's exceptional complex, which is not frequently open to general visitors. Only fully-registered symposium participants and speakers will qualify for this tour. Space is limited. Please complete all the symposium registration forms early — TSI must meet a strict deadline to submit additional delegate information to Ras Laffan due to security requirements. If you are interested in visiting Ras Laffan, do not delay in completing and forwarding the Form!

To meet entry and security requirements at Ras Laffan, all registration forms must be completed,
including full payment, and returned to TSI no later than Monday, March 17, 2010.
