Doha, Qatar

Ras Laffan
Qatar enjoys sunshine nearly every day of the year and offers an impressive array of activities and cultural sites. Swimming in the Arabian Gulf, fishing, golfing, dune riding and even desert skiing are all available. Tour the Inland Sea on safari, visit some of the world's newest, and most spectacular, museums and stroll along the Corniche to appreciate the blend of modern and ancient architecture. Doha is a significant port, not only for Qatar, but the entire region. The city makes it easy to do business and has ideal venues for business meetings and entertainment, ranging from cruises in a traditional dhow on Doha Bay, to international four-star restaurants. And, of course, there are the souqs for shopping.

English is spoken by many Qataris, though the official language of the country is Arabic. Qatar is an Islamic state with beautiful mosques dotting the landscape. The local cuisine features fresh seafood from the Arabian Gulf, Mid Eastern meat dishes, and a selection of vegetarian specialties.

With 153.2 billion barrels of oil reserves and 910.5 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves — second only to Russia — Qatar plays an increasingly important role in the global oil and gas industries. Within Qatar, this is highlighted by the development of the massive Ras Laffan industrial complex, a facility that is critical to handling the country's growing sulphur supply. Ras Laffan Industrial City, situated along the northeast coast of Qatar, is one of the fastest growing industrial cities in the world. The city covers an area of 106 square kilometers and is expected to expand to nearly 250 square kilometers in the near future. Ras Laffan Industrial City's overall purpose is to mature into a thriving industrial complex utilizing gas and liquids derived from staging of the North Field Gas Development Program. A directorate of Qatar Petroleum, Ras Laffan is a multi purpose, multidimensional industrial city, which operates an industrial port and provides integrated services as well as several industrial facilities to existing industries and prospective investors. Services include modern infrastructure, security, fire safety, a medical center, environmental regulations and support services area.
