Donald L. Messick is an agronomist and soil scientist by training with over 30 years of experience in various aspects of sulphur research and marketing. He joined The Sulphur Institute (TSI) in October 1989. In 1995, his responsibilities expanded to include analysis of sulphur market activities. Since, he has been involved in various activities relating to communications and marketing. In 2014, he became responsible for development and implementation of new TSI endeavors.
In 1980, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences, focusing on environmental issues and a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Sciences from the University of Delaware. In 1982, he earned a Master of Science degree in Agronomy, specializing in soil fertility and chemistry, at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Mr. Messick is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Fertilizer Industry Round Table. He also serves on the International Fertilizer Industry Association Communications and Public Affairs Committee as well as the association's Agriculture Committee. He is also a member of other international associations; has authored publications in agronomy, soil science, and physical chemistry; and is a Certified Professional Agronomist, Certified Soil Scientist, and Certified Professional Crop Adviser.
