Taman Bulk Terminal Loads First Sulphur Shipment

  • Taman Bulk Terminal has loaded its first shipment of sulphur. 38.5 tons of granulated sulphur produced by North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) at the Kashagan oil field in Kazakhstan was loaded on board the 55 dwt Handymax bulker “Sealuck II”.

    The cargo is designated for Jorf-Lasfar and Safi in Morocco. The consignee is OCP Group, one of the world’s major phosphorite and phosphor fertilizers exporters.

    According to OTECO, the design capacity of the sulphur terminal in Taman after the construction of a roofed warehouse for 300,000 tons will make 5 mn tons per annum. The warehouse is located far from the seashore, sulphur is transported to the berth by fully covered conveyor galleries equipped with air aspiration systems.

    Granulated sulphur is delivered to the terminal in gondola cars with special polypropylene inserts that prevent the cargo from dusting.

    The terminal can accommodate vessels up to 120,000 dwt.
